The Lodge

The Lodge Exterior Dsc 2226

Several years ago, I found myself yearning for a period of introspection, rejuvenation, and a chance to connect with God on a deeper level. The relentless pace of life, coupled with the unceasing demands of ministry, often made me feel as though I was trapped on a never-ending treadmill, set at high elevations and constantly accelerating. The need to find stillness and truly know that He is God became an undeniable longing. It was during a moment when the Apostles, exhausted from their demanding mission, returned without even enough time to eat that Jesus uttered those compassionate words, “Come away by yourselves to a desolate place and rest a while.” Perhaps the wise preacher Vance Havner was onto something when he paraphrased Jesus’ words as, “Come apart, or you will come apart.”

In 2016, when I first laid eyes on the Lodge property, I knew I had discovered something special. It offered both communal spaces for fellowship and tranquil corners for deep reflection and spiritual contemplation. Countless times, I have found myself seated on a bench, engaging in prayer, immersed in reading, and witnessing the breathtaking sunrise over Lake Huron. These were moments I wished every pastor and Christian leader could experience.

My vision for this property was clear – it should serve as a sanctuary where marriages could be fortified, leadership teams could be nurtured, and pastors and Christian leaders could find encouragement, revival, and replenishment. Many have made their way to the Lodge, and these aspirations have become a reality. Nestled on 40 acres of serene woodland, just a short distance from the shores of Lake Huron, this beautiful edifice has evolved into a sacred haven, a place where life-altering decisions have been made, and where, by God’s grace, many more will come to pass.

Our commitment to the future involves improving this property to better serve its noble purposes. We are in process of adding scenic trails with benches for peaceful walks, and amenities including pickleball courts, kayaks, golf, and bicycles for moments of relaxation during retreats. These enhancements will enrich the experiences for all who visit this cherished retreat center.
